There's are Rodents in my ceiling what am a I gonna do.....

..........in the cornices of our ceilings to be precise which are to my horror wafer thin. This is all very unnerving as I am expecting something to eventually get through, can only presume it's the cold driving them in as there is no food up there?
London living eh........
Been hearing scratching and scampering sounds coming from our cornices for quite a while now, since the colder weather it has got worse. At first we thought it was water or the walls crumbling but lately realised it is Rodents after holes started appearing in the cornices and I f'ing spotted something moving in one above my f'ing head FFS and heard scratching in more than one place at the same time.
I got up there to tape the hole up with gaffer tape and realised just how thin the cornices are.
Anyway we called pest control who put poison in one of the holes and pushed it along in the space as the cornices are obviously fake and hollow. Was advised to cut down these big branches outside that are growing all over our extension roof as the bloke reckoned they were getting in under the roof lining, said he'd never seen rodents in cornices before but said the poison should get then in a week. I cut down the branches immediately and hoped this was the end of it.
2 weeks later and it's worse, more little holes, staining on the cornices in the kitchen which I presume is urine and feces FFS.
Called the pest control today and he said obviously they have not touched the poison but luckily a new product has just come out, some sort of foam that gets on the rodent and kills them, he said it's so new that he can't get for another week but we are lucky as otherwise he'd be at a loss what to do next.
Up shot is he's back next week and hopefully this works but we've got another week of living with this plus the time it will take for them to die.
We have got 3 cats who are waiting eagerly for something to come through, they've been sitting up on the cupboards and scratching and jumping up at the noises.
We have friends coming over for dinner on Saturday too.

Rat and mouse problem in my last office.
Was hilarious seeing the women charge out when the big cunts were walking on the ceiling.
Kill them yourself and more will appear, so I'd suggest getting the experts in to make sure the slags don't come back.

You could just find the hole where they're getting in and block it up.
Watch out for ASBESTOS SOFFITS though.

We had a look outside and there a lots of holes, pest control said he could not tell where they are getting if it was not the brancheswhich I have cut down 2 weeks ago.
We'll no doubt have a horrible smell if they die up there, then repairs to the cornices and the possibility of more getting in, f'ing nightmare!

Change your pest control company.
Do you have a loft/void above you?
They are using the space as a nest, which means they are breeding there.
Is there any water anywhere near the house? Pond/stream etc?

No we live in a ground floor flat, though it is nearish Hollow Ponds / Epping Forest in Leytonstone. Have told our upstairs neighbour who says he has heard nothing and does not seem unduly alarmed.
My only solice is that they are mice not Rats as the cornice space is small and it appears they are coming in from the cold not for food?
I did think the pest control bloke was a bit lame, will have to try and block up every hole I can outside.

We had mice in our loft at our last house.... they didn't ever come into the house itself.
If you have access to the loft space just chuck a load of poison up there. Our pest controller chucked a load up, came back and it had all gone (he was amazed)... put a load more up there and that slowed them down a bit and they eventually fucked off.
The pest controller didn't do anthing you can't do yourself.... just loads of poison.
You can also buy ultrasound transmitters that you plug in that are supposed to deter them (and which don't effect cats).... don't know how effective they are but worth trying.... you can get them in Homebase / B&Q etc...

You'd be amazed at how small a hole a rat can get through.
Those ultrasound devices should not be used for long. If you put it in when the rats breed, the adults fuck off and the babies use the ultrasound as a homing beacon

.....Also Rios our cellar used to flood in the winter but Landlords have put a pump in the drain and last 2 winters no floods, also apparently had a mice infestation in the cellar before we moved in.
Ludo, poison did not work as I said, he's coming back with a new foam product next week as it's so new he can't get till then.
Bloody nightmare, luckily we are still only renting and looking to buy asap so can't wait to get out of the f'ing place!
